Iowan Scores Well at Nationals

Author: Pete Karagianis
5/14/2008

Kushan Tyagi, of Ames, scored 6.0/7 at the National K-6 Championships held in Pennsylvania last weekend. Tyagi, in 5th grade, defeated a 1600-rated player in the final round to secure a tie for third place. He took home the 37-inch tall 6th place trophy on tiebreaks. Kushan's rating increased nearly 50 points, from 1525-1572. Venkat Iyer, of Iowa City, also participated, scoring 4.0/7 and also gaining rating points. Good job guys!
