Iowa Scholastic Championships for 2009-2010

The Iowa State Chess Association is working on the 2009-2010 Scholastic Chess Championship Calendar. While some dates and host locations are being firmed up, the IASCA is still looking for additional organizations to host some tournaments.

November 7, 2009: Arrangements for the Iowa Individual Grades Championships to return to the Clarion Hotel Wasserbahn Water Park (formerly Holiday Inn) have been made.

December 5, 2009: Chess parents at Ames High School are considering hosting the Iowa Primary (K-3) Elementary, Secondary Elementary (4-6), and Junior High School (7-9) tournament.

We still need host sites for the following events (preferred time from in parentheis):

• Iowa Individual High School Championship

(November - January)

• Iowa Individual Girls Championship (January)

• Iowa Elementary Team Championship (February)

• Iowa Junior High School Team Championship

(March/April, following spring break)

• Iowa High School Team Championship

(March/April, following spring break)

The IASCA seeks to place these tournaments at various locations around the state. Please contact James Hodina at james.hodina@mchsi.com or 319-390-6525 if you would like to explore hosting one of these tournaments. You do not need to be a USCF Tournament Director; the IASCA will find one for the tournament if you do have one available from your organization.
