President's Corner

I am back! Ok, I never really left, but time has not been kind to me and I let the President Corner go dormant for a few months.

Congratulations to our new state team champions, Hawkeye Chess Club. Dan Goffstein (board 1) and Dan Brashaw (board 3) won their board prizes in leading their team to victory. Tom Hesse (board 2) and Roman Skaskiw (board 4) contributed heavily as well. Going into the last round, they held the tie break advantage over their opponents, Ames Chess Club, and just needed 2 points to secure the title. They got the 2 points very quickly as Jason Juett fell for an opening trap against Tom and John Mogler overextended himself and started dropping material against Dan Brashaw.

A scholastic schedule has been put together and is listed on the web site. We still have a few tournaments left to schedule, so if interested in putting one on, let me know.

I got a lot of positive responses to Hall of Fame and do have our first inductee. My idea is to post the inductee name and then let you contribute stories or information about the inductee. I need to verify with Rusty Davis the best way to post that information. As soon as I have that, we will start posting the names.
